Event description

Description

The magic wallet is a simple structure consisting of two paper boards attached so they can be opened in two ways, each one hiding what is revealed by the other. The result can be a rich visual puzzle (the name comes from one opening revealing a money pocket) or a book revealing two mutually exclusive scenarios—winter/summer, etc. We will make two models. For a third book, participants will take the idea of the structure wherever they want, visually and conceptually. .

All needed materials will be supplied, but, if you have them, bring any of the following: scissors, glue stick, X-Acto knife, ruler, writing/coloring tools, and non-precious images/photographs. If you’ll need some nourishment during that time, bring it with you

Susan Viguers is a book artist, writer, and editor. She recently retired from teaching in and heading the MFA Book Arts/Printmaking program at the University for the Arts. Her artist books have been collected by nearly 60 public institutions in the US and abroad. susanviguers.com
