About this event
The madrigal was an innovation of the mid-16th century, as composers increasingly strove to express the meaning of the text above all else. The madrigals (and related works) that we will perform on this concert tell stories of grief, joy, beauty, ardent love, monarchical devotion, and whimsical philosophical quandaries. Join us for this evening of a cappella choral music and experience the breadth and beauty of this delightful genre.
The New York Chamber Choir is a 20-voice ensemble comprised of singers (both professional and avocational) from the tri-state area. NYCC Youth is a chamber choir for students aged 14-20, which provides members with music education, choral training, individual voice lessons, and performance opportunities free of charge.
There will be a brief reception after the concert.
