Join Slow Food DC members to experience an evening of craft beer by Denizens Brewing Co. and artisanal chocolate by chocolatier Puja Satiani. Event features a tour of Denizens’ brewery, learning how chocolate is made and what it has in common with craft beer, and, of course, indulging in delicious pairings! Ticket includes chocolate and beer pairings, as well as light appetizers.
Denizens Brewing Co. owners Emily Bruno, Jeff Ramirez, and Julie Verratti launched their production brewery in 2014 to bring the camaraderie of the brewery taproom to the DMV. Emily and Julie – locals and recovering office dwellers – joined forces with their brother-in-law Jeff, a veteran of the CO and PA beer scenes, to create a space where anyone could pull up a chair, grab a pint, and enjoy. Denizens is the only woman and minority owned and operated brewery in Maryland and a proud member of the Silver Spring community. Visit them at www.denizensbrewingco.com.
Chocolatier Puja Satiani discovered fine chocolate while practicing law in DC. Puja completed a pastry program at L'Academie de Cuisine, trained at L'Ecole du Grand Chocolat in southeastern France, and stayed in the jungles of southern Belize to experience firsthand how the cacao bean is grown, harvested, and transformed into chocolate. Since becoming a chocolatier, she’s explored the diverse ways that chocolate and cacao can enhance our lives, from chocolate pairings to recipes, savory and sweet; skincare; and confections. Her artisanal creations are all handcrafted with exceptional ingredients. She also writes a blog called Vie De Cacao. Learn more at www.pujasatiani.com.
