In honor of Black History Month, Macy’s, The Gordon Parks Foundation and American Black Film Festival celebrate the 100th birthday of Black American Icon, Gordon Parks.
Hired in 1948 by LIFE magazine as their first African American staff photographer, Gordon Parks was a modern day Renaissance man who also found success as a film director, author and composer.
Join us “In Conversation” with director Kenny Leon, actors Omari Hardwick, Malik Yoba and actress Malinda Williams for a spirited discussion on Gordon Park’s influence on film and the future of African American cinema. Following the discussion, enjoy light refreshments and live music. Plus, with any $50 or more purchase made during the event, receive a commemorative Gordon Parks journal*.
Also celebrate the life of Gordon Parks by viewing iconic images in our photographic art installation featuring some of his most beloved works, such as American Gothic, Washington D.C. 1942 during the month of February.
