Michael Brennan, Lori Gramlich, Mike Fitzpatrick and David Lambert This course will provide relevant practice knowledge for social workers who are or will be engaged in affecting systemic change through public policy in the public arena. Macro social work practice focuses on changing larger systems, such as communities and organizations. It encompasses a broad spectrum of actions and ideas, ranging from community organizing and education to legislative advocacy and policy analysis. Being involved in the Legislative processes is an opportunity for social workers to further their missions and create changes to the system by shaping public policy. Policymakers need the expertise of social workers in order to understand the issues and make informed decisions that affect organizations. Th is workshop is intended to assist all social workers, including clinicians, in navigating the ethical issues and obligations when practicing in public settings
