Event description

Description

Most people think of the 1970’s when they think of macrame. In fact, this art form has been around as far back as the 13th century. Throughout history, macrame has had its appeal. As a craft used by sea faring folk, a favorite pastime of Queen Mary & her ladies in waiting, and during the Victorian era, when macrame was used to adorn wardrobes as well as households, as lace, bedspreads and curtains.

Today, we are in love with this art form as a way to adorn our homes and make attractive places to hang our favorite houseplants!

We’ve invited macrame master Amy Lofland to spend an evening with us and teach us this ancient craft. Each participant will learn basic knot making techniques that form the foundation for more elaborate designs. We’ll be using white cotton rope for a clean, modern look. Snacks and beverages will be provided, and everyone will come away with a finished plant hanger to take home.

Some details to note-

-If you have a favorite pot you’d like to make a hanger for, bring it! Otherwise we will have pots on hand to use as placeholders as we create the macrame. If you fall in love with your pot, you can purchase it at extra cost. We will also have select houseplants on hand for purchase.

-All other supplies are included in the cost of the workshop.
