Event description

Description

Machining Scotland is back for 2020 and this year it's going to be even bigger and better.

Following the success of the inaugural Machining Scotland Conference 2019 - the largest ever event to take place at the University of Strathclyde's Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) - this year's event will be repeated over three days on Tuesday 25, Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 August.

Aimed at re-shoring work and promoting new relationships across the machining sector, Machining Scotland is run in collaboration with our industrial Members and Partners.

What to expect on the day

Each day will be packed with state of the art tool demonstrations, including a DMG NLX with Robo2Go, highlighting lights out production and lean automation for automated production runs, plus drop-in clinics, networking opportunities, insights from industry leaders and an exhibition.

It will also feature an immersive digital showcase including a preview of Scotland's very first digital twin for filling whisky casks, which can boost productivity and save the industry significant costs, along with an opportunity to experience the future state of working instructions through our augmented reality platform.

You can also:

  • Visit the Lightweight Manufacturing Centre (LMC) for additional machine tool demonstrations
  • Meet experts from across the Scottish funding network to help identify areas specific to your needs
  • Organise 1-2-1 meetings with attendees, staff and AFRC Members and Partners
  • Learn about the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS)

Machining Scotland is designed to be highly interactive. Prior to the event attendees are encouraged to use Eventbrite to submit questions and highlight key issues that will help us shape discussions.
