With support from the Office of the Dean of Science, the School of Interdisciplinary Science is pleased to announce the start of a monthly Brown Bag series meant to encourage multidisciplinary interactions among all members of the McMaster community.

Through MacDUET (McMaster University Dean’s Undergraduate Education Talks), we aim to create a casual environment where invited speakers share innovative ideas about teaching and learning and further discuss how these ideas are realized into practice.

All talks are held on a Friday at 12:30pm until 1:20pm in the MacPherson Classroom on the 5th floor of Mills Library.

September 22 2017: Dr. Joe Kim - Making Teaching Personal and Learning Durable

By the end of our first session, participants should be able to: (1) implement methods to reduce mind wandering to promote effortful and focused attention in class, and; (2) design teaching materials through multimedia learning principles to reduce cognitive load and promote learning.

October 27 2017: Dr. Barbara Fenesi - Leveraging the Brain-Body Connection to Promote Learning
