Event description

Description

America and Israel have always had a special relationship: it's an alliance between a superpower and a kindred, small state in one of the world's most problematic regions. But a closer look reveals a much more complex reality.

Join Prof. KC Johnson as he illuminates – thanks to a trove of secret recordings – President Lyndon B. Johnson's policies towards Israel and the Middle East, and the decisions he made in the aftermath of the Six Day War.

This event is made possible by the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue Israel Committee. It is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Please bring a government-issued photo ID.

KC Johnson is professor of history at Brooklyn College and the CUNY Graduate Center, where he has taught since 1999. He received his doctorate from Harvard University. For several years, he worked with a team of historians transcribing the secret presidential recordings of John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard Nixon; his work focused on the Johnson administration. He was Fulbright Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at Tel Aviv University in 2007-2008.
