Who should attend?

Only Therapists, PT, PTA, OTR, COTA’s who have previously taken either the full certification course of the Comprehensive Lymphedema Management for the American Health Care or an equivalent Lymphedema Certification Course.

CE Hours: Number of hours awarded for this course to be determined. We have applied to the MN Board of PT for Category 1 CE Hours.


Ann Elise Kryszak, OTR, CLT, is a treating therapist and educator specializing in advanced practices in Lymphedema Management. She has been a practicing therapist for 40 years and a Lymphedema Specialist for 20 years.

Why attend this course?

This comprehensive advanced, refresher and update course is designed to teach therapists the most current management techniques to effectively treat Lymphedema. Participants will leave this course with a certificate of Comprehensive Lymphedema Management Therapy (CLT) and techniques needed to immediately begin managing patients with Lymphedema. Effective assessment and treatment approaches will be thoroughly discussed and practiced in the laboratory experience. You will gain information pertaining to the necessary manual techniques from Comprehensive Lymphedema Management for American Health Care required to appropriately design a therapeutic treatment approach and self-care program.

Course Objectives:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy & physiology of lymph system

  • Describe the pathophysiology of Lymphedema & pathogenesis of common upper & lower extremity Lymphedema

  • Understand the common diagnostic procedures for Lymphedema

  • Recognize, assess & treat the different classifications of upper & lower extremity Lymphedema

  • Perform proper massage techniques to enhance lymphatic flow & explain the physiologic rationale drainage massage

  • Correctly apply compression bandages in the treatment of upper & lower extremity Lymphedema

  • Perform limb measurements that provide acceptable documentation of outcome measures.

  • Instruct patients & health care professionals in precautions and skin care

  • Choose the appropriate compression garments & instruct patients in correct application

  • Develop appropriate individualized treatment programs for successful outcomes

Tentative Agenda:

  • Review Anatomy and Physiology of the Lymphatic System
  • Typical Alternative Pathways, Lymphotomes, Watersheds, Netter's, Kubik's, Sappey's
  • Review and Demonstrate Unilateral MLDM with Sidelying Back Clearing and Bilateral MLDM with Back and Trunk Cleaning
  • Practice UE MLDM Techniques - (both partners)
  • (Compression Alternatives Presentation)
  • Review and Demonstrate UE Advanced Bandaging Techniques-
  • Full Arm, Wrist to Axilla, Varied Hand Techniques, etc.
  • Practice UE Bandaging Techniques
  • Case Studies and Learn Basic techniques for Treatment of the upper extremity:
  • Lymphedema and Breast Cancer, Facial and Neck Edema.
  • Orthopedics- Humeral Fractures and Shoulder Replacements
  • Review: Anatomy and Physiology of the Pelvis and Leg Lymphatic and Circulatory System
  • Watersheds & Lymphotomes: Normal and Alternate Pathways Unilateral and Bill
  • Review and Demonstrate Unilateral Lymphedema Treatment for the Leg
  • Bilateral MLDM with Trunk to Axilla Clearing
  • Practice : Unilateral and Bilateral Lymphedema Treatment – (full Treatment – both partners)
  • (use of the pump with treatment)
  • Review and Demonstrate LE Compression Varied Bandaging Techniques
  • Full Leg, Toes to Knee, Ankle to Knee, Foot/Toes compression
  • Practice Compression Bandaging for the Leg
  • Case Studies – Lymphedema and Prostate Cancer, CVI
  • Learn and Practice Techniques for Genital Edema, Orthopedics – THR, TKR, Hip Variations, Kinesiotaping

Non-employee/On-call Therapist Cancellation policy:

Cancellations received at least five or more working days before the event are refundable, minus a $20 administrative charge per registrant. There is no refund for cancellations received less than five working days before the start of course. A refund or voucher will be issued to any participant who is registered to attend a seminar that is cancelled by Centrex Rehab.

Centrex Employee Cancellation Policy:

  1. Centrex requires a one month cancellation notice from the registered employee. Eventbrite will send a registration reminder just before this time frame.
  2. Centrex will allow one emergency cancellation per employee every 2 years without penalty (i.e. you or family member is sick, car died, etc.)
  3. Any no show or cancellation without proper notice and beyond the one allowed emergency cancellation will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

You do not need to bring a ticket to the course with you.
