Event description

Description

Amidst rising hate crimes, tacit presidential endorsement for Britain First and continued media demonisation of Muslims, Runnymede and Jawaab have decided it's time we organise against the growing Islamophobia our communities face.

We invite you to join us for the first Luton Islamophobia Action Group meeting, where we will

  • discuss Jawaab's grassroots campaigning and activism around the issue so far
  • discuss Runnymede's research & insights on the issue
  • help you build skills to take action on Islamophobia in your community

The session will be facilitated by Zin Derfoufi, Impact and Engagements Officer at Runnymede Trust and Riz Hussain, Director and Founder of grassroots anti-Islamophobia charity, Jawaab.

Runnymede Trust are Britain's leading race equality think tank and have been researching and writing about Islamophobia for the last two decades. They've recently published a new report 'Islamophobia: Still A Challenge for Us All' on the problem.

Jawaab are a grassroots anti-Islamophobia charity who run creative campaigning and skills workshops for young people. They've recently interviewed over 40 young Muslims about their experiences of belonging, identity & Islamophobia, and will be pushing forward their campaigns work from this research next year.
