background:
Research results point towards an increased prevalence of sexual violence or trauma in individuals with eating disorders. And, the statistics continue...
The healing journey for sexual violence survivors and those facing an eating disorder, or wounded relationship with food or body, is complex and demands an increased systemic, collective awareness and response.
By offering a place to speak and or sit in solidarity, peers are welcomed to honor - and possibly find a sense of healing, safety, belonging - through the indigenous traditions and influences of the Talking Circle.
