Luncheon with local PD - Human Trafficking
Wed, May 10, 2017, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM CDT
Please join The Hotel Association for this special luncheon discussing the Human Trafficking issue we all face and is especially important to the hotel, tourism and hospitality industry. Every year thousands of men, women and children fall into these desperate situations of forced labor or sexual exploitation and it is getting worse.
There are more than 20 million people currently enslaved throughout the world today. 26% of those enslaved are children under the age of 18 and 22% in this modern slave situation are in the sex industry. Over 14,000 new victims are brought into the United States every year. Of those, many are trafficked through local hotels, motels or any other means to move them along to a destination of servitude.
Our industry needs to be aware of the tell-tale signs of human trafficking and when someone is in distress related to enslavement situations. We will have a very direct, fact based discussion regarding this from our friends of the local police departments involved in the DFW Metroplex.
This is certainly a luncheon that you will not want to miss as your involement and participation will truly be invaluable.
