UCLA TDG Lunch-N-Learn Seminar Series

for UCLA Faculty & Postdoc Entrepreneurs

Date:  March  16, 2017

Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Location: CNSI at UCLA - 5th Floor Presentation Room

Topic:  "Common Startup Mistakes: What to Avoid and How to Succeed"

Speaker(s): Kevin DeBre - Stubbs, Alderton and Markiles and David Ehrenberg - Early Growth Financial Services

Everyone who's been down the startup road has made a mistake or two. The good news? Many of these mistakes are avoidable. In this session, we’ll discuss the most common mistakes we see startups make, in the areas of fundraising, legal, financial management, hiring, and more.  And we’ll provide practical advice for how to navigate your way without getting thrown off track by these issues.

Kevin DeBré - Stubbs, Alderton and Markiles

Kevin D. DeBré is the chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions Practice Group.  Kevin advises entrepreneurs and companies that use intellectual property to build their businesses.  Kevin has particular expertise in structuring and negotiating technology commercialization and patent licenses, strategic alliances, research and development collaborations, trademark licensing and brand merchandising agreements and manufacturing, distribution and marketing arrangements. He also counsels clients on compliance with data security and privacy laws and regulations.

David Ehrenberg - Early Growth Financial Services

David Ehrenberg founded Early Growth Financial Services (EGFS) in 2008 to address the lack of on-demand financial support available to startups. David’s passion for mentoring entrepreneurs, and helping early-stage startups to thrive, led him to create the integrated financial solution that EGFS provides, from day-to-day accounting to strategic finance, tax, and valuation support.

UCLA TDG and CNSI are pleased to host the Lunch-N-Learn seminar series for entrepreneurially-minded UCLA faculty and postdocs.  The series covers the basic steps involved in starting a company.  Each seminar will be presented by law or financial firms with extensive experience in the startup arena.
