Lunch N’ Learns provide members an easy way to sharpen their knowledge and skills by learning about topics that are of interest to them. Lunch N’ Learns are held monthly (January - May, September - November) at the OAISD. This is a "bring-your-own lunch" event.  

 

TOPIC:  Lean Nonprofit - The Seven Deadly Wastes:  How to Reduce Expenses by Identifying and Eliminating Waste in Your Daily Operations

DESCRIPTION:  Lean thinking focuses on eliminating waste while enhancing the quality of service in the eyes of the customer. Lean practices have been applied in both manufacturing and service industries, including nonprofit management, health care, banking, and government. Through lean philosophy, you can identify and eliminate waste in order to create better workflows that ultimately enhance the quality of your services, reduce expenses and allow your organization to focus more resources toward your mission.

In this Lunch N' Learn, you will learn the Seven Deadly Wastes and how they can bog down operations, resulting in long process times and ultimately increased expenses. Participants will engage in several hands-on activities designed to help them walk away able to identify waste and kick-start a plan for improvement.

SPEAKER:  Patrick Adams has been delivering bottom-line results through specialized process improvement solutions for over 15 years. He's worked with all types of businesses from private, non-profits, government, and manufacturing ranging from small business to billion dollar corporations. Patrick is a proven leader and a highly experienced consultant that is niche focused on organizational strategy and leadership development. He brings a unique human approach to sound team-building practices; creating consensus and enabling empowerment. He motivates, inspires, and drives the right results at all points in the business process.

Diana Terpstra is a results-driven consultant with a profound knowledge of business process improvement initiatives based on Toyota Production System philosophies. Diana has extensive experience in coaching leaders on lean tool implementation, problem solving, performance improvement training, strategic planning and product development initiatives. She has a passion to identify and eliminate all forms of organizational waste, think outside the box, and push the envelope to a higher performance level.
