Event description
Gather over lunch and learn about local theater organizations

About this Event

On April 28th at 12 PM, join us as we highlight four local theaters and the people behind them. We are excited to be joined by Meena Natarajan of Pangea World Theater, Nathan Keepers of The Moving Company, Ansa Akyea of Park Square Theatre and Robin Gillette of The Jungle Theater. They'll share:

  • What they do and why
  • The role a stage can play in celebrating diversity
  • What they find unique in the Minneapolis theater scene
  • Recent productions and what's next
  • And more.

To accompany the discussion, we are offering a special lunch bundle for purchase - to be announced.

You may add this event to your calendar from the confirmation email that will be sent upon check-out.

See you (virtually) soon!

About the Panelists

Founded in 1995 and led by Dipankar Mukherjee and Meena Natarajan, Pangea World Theater creates and presents international, multi-disciplinary theater that illuminates the human condition, celebrates cultural differences and promotes human rights. Pangea produces, commissions and presents uncompromising, innovative, genre-crossing works that challenge the expectations of our artists as well as our audiences. Our work not only crosses ethnic and cultural barriers, but also consciously seeks to cross-fertilize artistic disciplines and genres. Pangea works to build equity and justice through our art practices and performances and builds solidarity with the multiple communities that are part of the ecology of the Twin Cities.

Since 2009 The Moving Company otherwise known as MoCo has been creating original works, most recently What If and Speechless. Others include, Liberty Falls 54321, Werther & Lotte, Love’ s Labour’ s Lost and Refugia (with The Guthrie. ) Nathan is Producing Artistic Director of The Moving Company in Minneapolis. Nathan previously spent 11 seasons with Theatre de la Jeune Lune. Nathan has also collaborated with other local artists including choreographer Berit Ahlgren, and around the country directing for Merrimack Repertory Theater and ATL. He has been an artist in residence at University of Iowa, University of Minnesota, Stanford University, NYU and Gustavus Adolphus. Nathan studied with Pierre Byland in Switzerland, and Philippe Gaulier in London.

Park Square Theatre excites generations of artists and audiences through vibrant theatre that elevates our community’s multiplicity of voices. As a professional actor, Ansa is an artistic associate with the theater as well as a member of Actor's Equity Association, SAGAFTRA, and a board member with Young Artists Initiative (YAI). Ansa also works as a life coach and lead facilitator with The Woke Coach whose mission is to help clients become the best, most understanding, empathetic version of themselves by deepening their analysis and developing an understanding around issues of racism, bias, and injustice.

The Jungle Theater creates courageous, resonant theater that challenges, entertains, and sparks expansive conversation. As a neighborhood theater with national impact, the Jungle focuses on telling stories that matter, with deep care and attention to detail. The Jungle is deeply rooted in its Lyn Lake neighborhood in Minneapolis and plays a vital role in the economic and cultural development of the area.
