Event description

Description

Join Felicia Williamson, Dallas Holocaust Museum Archivist, for a lunchtime series highlighting some of the most significant and interesting artifacts from the Museum’s archives.

This session will feature the following collections:

Mati Driessen and Lilli Wolf Collection

Mati Driessen worked as an assistant in Lilli Wolf's costume and dressmaking shop in Cologne, Germany. After Kristallnacht, Lilli, who was Jewish, lost her business. Along with two other women, Mati helped hide Lilli for the duration of the Holocaust. Lilli ultimately sponsored Mati and her son Klaus when they immigrated to the United States in 1958. In 1979, Mati Driessen was honored by Yad Vashem as a Righteous Among the Nations.

Mittelman Family Collection

This collection features pre- and post-war family photographs and documents detailing the story of Magda and Les Mittelman. Les Mittelman was forced into the Hungarian army in Debrecen, Hungary on October 5, 1939. After his discharge, he was put into a forced labor battalion. While outrunning Russian troops, he escaped into the woods, where he joined a Polish partisan group.

The Dallas Holocaust Museum's Lunch & Learn Series features quarterly programs on Holocaust history and human rights topics. A light lunch will be provided.
