Panelist Pic

Please join us for a panel discussion with four female business owners who will tell their story of entrepreneurship. Katie Steller, Katie Kimball, Sylvia Andrews and Devi James will share their business high's and low's; and tips for planning a successful future. Audience questions will be encouraged!

Lunch provided by Minnesota Potluck, owned by WomenVenture client Mary Stevens. Each box lunch will include a sandwich, salad and dessert. Coffee, tea and water will be available. Please indicate on the registration page if you would like a turkey, ham or veggie sandwich.

Sylvia Andrews, Safesha

Sylvia is a serial entrepreneur, proud mother and founder of the Safesha company and product line of natural, moisturizing hand sanitizers. Sylvia recognized there were no natural, moisturizing hand sanitizers available. Disliking the runny texture of commercial sanitizers and how they left her hands felling dry and rough, she began researching ingredients and formulas to create a natural alternative that both sanitized and acted as a lotion. She considers Safesha to be a manifestation of her deep commitment to a healthy, values-oriented, environmentally conscious lifestyle, and is fiercely proud of having turned her dream into a tangible product.

Devi James, Scrapbusters

Devi James is the President of Scrapbusters, a demolition and junk removal company. Devi’s journey with Scrapbusters started five years ago as an investment opportunity. Prior to that, she had an accounting career in the commercial real estate industry. Now she wears all the hats of a small business owner in construction: HR, accounting, admin, project management, bobcat operator and truck driver. Devi graduated with a BA in business from University of St. Thomas, and is currently a member of the Association of Women Contractors. She completed the WomenVenture Scale UP! Twin Cities program in 2016 and has seen exponential business growth since. She foresees continued growth in 2018, which will create additional full time employment opportunities.

Katie Kimball, Twin Cities Trapeze Center

After a successful career in circus and musical theater, Katie Kimball opened Twin Cities Trapeze Center in 2013 with the help of a business loan from WomenVenture. Twin Cities Trapeze offers Flying Trapeze and Circus classes to students of all ages and abilities who wish to challenge the boundaries of their comfort zone.

Katie Steller, Steller Hair Company

Meet Katie Steller, owner of Steller Hair Company, a 7 chair salon located in NE Minneapolis. Steller Hair Company opened in June of 2013, and has grown at an incredible rate. Katie was introduced to WomenVenture after struggling to be taken seriously by banks and other business professionals. WomenVenture was an irreplaceable asset in the launch of Steller Hair Company. Not only did they believe in her story and passion, they gave her the tools and guidance she needed to create a successful business plan, cash flow projections and an understanding of risk factors that come along with being a small business owner. In every aspect of her life Katie strives to be an advocate for people: her employees, clients and all members of her community. She believes in showing up, even when it feels difficult and doing the very best in every situation, every day.
