Presentation Title: Finding And Protecting Your Intellectual Property
Synopsis: Most entrepreneurs have a vague understanding that intellectual property (IP) is important. However, identifying those IP assets and what should be done with them can be a complicated and daunting process. This presentation will provide foundational information on the various types of IP, when they should be secured and options for how to respond if you discover your rights are being infringed. The presentation will include pitfalls to be wary of so that business owners can make more informed decisions for their company’s success.
About the speaker: Douglas Q. Hahn is a shareholder in Stradling's Intellectual Property practice group with 20 years of experience supporting companies to identify, assess, manage and enforce their intellectual property rights. Doug has supported companies across a broad spectrum of industries including medical device, pharmaceuticals, network solutions, image recognition, audio/visual products, apparel, beverages, consumer products and game developers. Doug is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as the federal and state courts of New York and California and has appeared before the appellate courts for the Ninth, Second and Federal circuits. Salil Bali is a senior associate in Stradling's Intellectual Property practice group. Salil’s practice focuses on counseling clients on protecting their intellectual property and enforcing or defending IP rights including patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition. Salil also has experience working with a broad variety of technologies and industries, including medical devices, computer hardware and software, fashion/apparel, beverages, consumer products, telecommunications, and restaurateurs. Salil is admitted to practice before the federal and state courts of California and has appeared before the appellate courts for the Ninth and Federal circuits.
