About this event

March's Lunch and Learn will be presented by Alan Peterson, MD on Climate Change and Health.

"My name is Alan Peterson, MD. I'm the Emeritus Director of Environmental and Community Medicine for over 40 years at Lancaster General Health. I'm a family physician and taught family medicine residents during most of that time. For over 7 years I have given conferences to many groups on Climate and Health.

I feel this is the most important thing I can do with the rest of my life. I have 2 granddaughters and a grandson that should have chances to grow up in a safe climate world, as we have. My talks are educational about changes ongoing now, and what will be the future if we don't make some changes now. These worsening changes include increasing heat, floods, forest fires, air pollution and others.

Obviously, children and adults have significant risks from changing climate from all the above and include, for example, asthma (about 1 in 10 children now have a diagnosis of asthma in the US). Vector borne diseases from ticks and mosquitoes like Lyme disease and Zika disease can have terrible health effects in both adults and children."

The fee is a Pay-What-You-Wish donation, $1.00 minimum
