Lunch and Learn: What to Expect When You're Expecting Foster Children

About this Event
This four-part series is designed help give you a few simple ways you can help a child learn how to feel safe in a new home and learn about some of your key responsibilities as a foster parent with a therapeutic agency such as SAFY.
This series includes:
- January 9th: What’s Your Name? How to introduce yourself to a foster child and establish a relationship
- January 16th: Lights and basic safety. How to help a child feel safe in a new home
- January 23rd: Meals and Food Security. How to develop a sense of security around food
- January 30th: Your Responsibilities. A brief introduction of the responsibilities and expectations of foster parents
Our goal is that these sessions will help you develop some realistic expectations about therapeutic foster care and help you make an informed decision about becoming a foster parent with a therapeutic agency such as SAFY.
We're raffling off some lunch-related prizes each week- and all participants will be entered to win our grand prize at the end of the month!
PLEASE NOTE: These Lunch and Learn sessions are optional and do not count towards your pre-service training hours.
