Autism and Mental Health
According to the CDC, 1 in 59 children have some kind of autism spectrum disorder. With prevalence rates growing, it is important for professionals working with a variety of people to know about the autism spectrum and what the disorder means for those affected.
Attendees will leave this training with a better understanding of:
- How the brain of someone with autism differs from a neurotypical individual
- How to more effectively communicate with someone on the autism spectrum
- How autism affects social understanding
- Resources to learn more about autism
About the Speaker
Bil Easley is the Autism Program Manager at the Bowen Center in Fort Wayne, a position he has held for three years. He has been with the Bowen Center for a total of eight years. Prior to that, he worked as a school teacher as well as an autism consultant for some residential agencies in the Fort Wayne area. Bil is passionate about this topic because of his personal experience with his son and the journey they have been on navigating services and organizations for people with Autism.
