Join with other instructional leaders from around the Chicagoland area to answer the question:

"How do I support teachers to engage primary and young learners through their own learning nature while also supporting the complexity of the new standards, joyous instruction and helping students to crack the alphabetic code?"

Participants will:

  • Experience our curriculum in a model lesson

  • Have access to free resources from EL Education

  • Analyze EL Education's high-quality, standards-aligned English Language Arts curriculum

About EL Education

EL Education is a leading K-12 non-profit organization committed to creating classrooms where teachers can fulfill their highest aspirations and where students can achieve more than they think possible.

For more than 20 years, EL Education has helped new and veteran teachers—in all types of school settings—strive for a vision of student success that joins academic achievement, character, and high-quality work. Our approach is grounded in respect for teachers and school leaders as creative agents in their classrooms. We build their capacity to ignite each student’s motivation, persistence, and compassion so they become active contributors to building a better world and succeed in school, college, career, and life. EL Education partners with more than 160 schools and 4,000 teachers serving 50,000 students in 32 states, and thousands of other teachers through its professional services work in New York and other states.

Our ELA curriculum was recently given 100 out of 102 points from curriculum reviewer EdReports.

Our Approach

As fellow educators, we recognize the challenge of delivering rigorous instructional experiences to students of all reading levels and needs. Our curriculum is written at a level of detail that helps teachers envision and implement key instructional routines and adopt strategies that allow all types of learners, including special education students and ELLs, to access the material. The curriculum is designed as a tool for professional learning, not as a script, and can be adapted for teachers at all stages of their practice. Veteran teachers and coaches can use it as an exemplar, and new teachers can use it as a template for instructional success.

Our curriculum gets students excited about learning through great books, compelling topics and ownership of their learning. It supports teachers in building students' skills to read, think, talk, and write about complex texts.
