Join us in celebrating the Year of the Tiger at the Garden! Help bring good luck by cheering at the lion dance performances. Tag along for a compost tour and go on a winter scavenger hunt to explore the Garden’s colors and trees (and nab a goodie bag when you complete your hunt!). Read and listen to stories at the Zodiac Animal Library, participate in the community art project, pick up a take-home craft, and bring home a lucky plant--jade plants, peace lilies, and other auspicious beauties--from our Lucky Plant Sale in the QBG Store. Note: most activities are outdoors and weather permitting. Schedule is subject to change. Mask wearing is strongly recommended.
ACTIVITIES
Compost Tours
Join QBG staff on a tour of our composting site!
Tour at 11:30am in English & Mandarin. Tour at 2pm in Mandarin
Winter Scavenger Hunt
Go on a scavenger hunt to explore the Garden’s colors and trees in winter. Collect a QBG goodie bag when you’ve finished, while supplies last.
Zodiac Animal Library and Storytime
Listen to stories or read stories on your own about the Chinese Zodiac and the different zodiac animals. Pick out a sticker for which zodiac animal you are!
Storytime at 12:30pm and 2pm
Year of the Tiger Community Art Project
Contribute to the tiger stripe project or decorate your own tiger face to hang at QBG’s Visitor & Administration Building for the month of February.
Lion Dance Performances
Performances at 1pm and 2:30pm
Take Home Crafts
Make your own paper blossom branch! One grab-and-go kit per person, while supplies last.
Lucky Plant Sale*
Bring home a lucky plant! Choose from jade plants to peace lilies and other auspicious beauties, available for purchase at the QBG Store. While supplies last.
Meet the Artist: Chemin Hsiao*
View the exhibit Shapes of the Garden, currently on view in the Visitor & Administration Gallery, and meet artist Chemin Hsiao as he shows his work and discusses his process. Shapes of the Garden is a series of woodblock prints inspired by the ever-changing shapes and colors of Queens Botanical Garden.12 to 1pm in the Gallery
*Note: These activities take place indoors. Showing proof of vaccination and photo ID is required to enter indoor facilities, except for individuals who are ineligible for vaccination. We will be accepting the CDC Vaccination Card, the Excelsior Pass, and the NYC COVID Safe App. The latter two are downloadable via Google Play and the App Store. The Garden thanks Lunar New Year at the Garden Sponsor, Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red,” an original movie streaming exclusively on Disney+ beginning March 11.

HEALTH & SAFETY
- To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and for the health and safety of all visitors, follow our current health & safety guidelines, found on our website: https://queensbotanical.org/know-before-you-go
- Outdoors, vaccinated visitors and staff are not required to wear masks, regardless of distancing. Individuals may choose to still wear masks. Unvaccinated visitors are required to wear masks.
- Indoors, individuals 12 and older are required to show proof they have received two vaccine doses, except for those who have received the one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Showing proof of vaccination and photo ID is required to enter buildings onsite. Children ages 5 to 11 are required to have proof of vaccination to entire buildings onsite. They must show they have received at least one dose of a vaccine. We accept the CDC Vaccination Card, the Excelsior Pass, and the NYC COVID Safe App (Android | iOS).
- Indoors, masks must be worn.
- Hand sanitizer dispensers are available at multiple stations throughout the Garden.
- High-touch surfaces are disinfected throughout the day.

By public transportation, take the number 7 subway line to Main Street, the Long Island Rail Road (Port Washington line) to Main Street/Flushing, or the Q44-SBS or Q20 bus.
