Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Missouri-based Luna J. could be mistaken for the lovechild of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Alabama Shakes as harbingers of the funk, blues and groove revival.

The freewheeling crew of four (that's three guys and one gal) enjoys whiskey, road tripping and quoting Anchorman at inappropriate intervals at sound checks. While their irreverent humor can often take center stage, it is important to note the band is diligent in their musical pursuits and businesslike when it comes to recording and touring.

Since their inception in 2008, Luna J. has put out a number of releases including 2014's "And Those Seen Dancing" EP, 2016's "Phases" LP and the single, "Hooked," this past June. Their prodigious turnout was complimented by 50+ shows throughout Missouri and the greater midwest in 2016; sharing the stage with Grammy winners Robert Cray and Jason Ricci, Grammy nominated Maxwell Hughes, as well as The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Edison, Holy Ghost Tent Revival and Future Thieves. During this recent string of dates, the band also secured in-studio appearances on several terrestrial radio stations -- a direct result from the buzz of their live show.

Ending 2017 on a high note, the Luna camp entered Studio 2100 to record their newest material with producer/engineer Jeff Smith (Never Shout Never, Chappell Roan, Me Like Bees, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils). This was a deliberate move to capitalize on the momentum from their touring and put to tape the kinetic energy that's continually developing between the band members. The resulting upcoming EP will showcase the band's evolving style and capture the vibrancy of their live show and personalities.
