Event description

Description

“People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is only revealed if there is light within.”

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

In this afternoon workshop, participants will use paste paper and other specialty papers to fold and craft unique candle or light holders called Luminaria.

Paste paper is a patterning technique developed during the Renaissance. The particular form of luminaria we will create uses origami folding techniques. Paper, bone folders, and votive lights will be provided. Once the technique is understood and mastered, possibilities for variation abound.

The Luminary Workshop will be taught by Joy Seidler who recognizes the astonishing capacity of art to heal. Joy is an artist, healer and educator who has been teaching, training teachers, and running workshops for 30+ years.
