The acclaimed Endicott Singers and Chamber Ensemble perform works together and separately by candlelight. As the calendar approaches the darkest day of the year, these ensembles perform pieces that shed light and spread light. The concert features the work, “To the Hands,” for choir and string quintet by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, in which the famous text from Emma Lazarus’ poem, The New Colossus, “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” is juxtaposed with a Latin text by Buxtehude, asking listeners to consider our collective responsibility toward those who face struggle.
