Event description

Description

The LULAC Council 60 Clubhouse was originally built in the early 20th century as a home in between Houston’s Montrose and Midtown neighborhoods. From 1955 to 2013, it was transformed into Council 60’s headquarters, serving as the national center of Mexican American Civil Rights political organizing during the 1950s and 60s, some of the movement’s most formative years. Please join LULAC Council 60, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and our partners for a special announcement about this treasured place.

Tickets are not required, but we do request you register in advance. This outdoor event will include a brief program, including remarks from special guest and LULAC National President Roger C. Rocha, Jr. Following the program, please join us for refreshments and a tour. Street parking is available near the Clubhouse, but may be limited. We encourage attendees to wear flat shoes.

This event is presented in partnership with LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) Council 60 of Houston, TX. If you have any questions about the event, please contact National Trust Field Officer Sehila Mota Casper at scasper@savingplaces.org. We hope to see you on January 30!
