Luke Rowland Quintet
About this event
The Luke Rowland Quintet is a jazz combo comprised of young musicians from Nashville, Tennessee who are on their way to becoming professional musicians. The combo features Nadia Reist (trumpet), Daniel Kuk (piano), Parker Bakkal (bass), and Riley Trauscht (alto saxophone). They have all pursued extensive music and Jazz education throughout high school in Nashville from organizations such as the Nashville Jazz Workshop and the Nashville Youth Jazz Ensemble. Luke Rowland began playing drums at the age of 6 in Denver Colorado, where he studied at Denver School of the Arts and Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. He moved to Nashville in 2019 and immediately began playing with talented local jazz musicians in Nashville. Luke and Nadia are both seniors in high school at the nationally recognized Nashville School of the Arts, and will both be attending Berklee College of Music in 2022 on full tuition scholarships. Daniel Kuk is a senior in high school at Centennial High, who is an incredible composer and pianist attending Middle Tennessee State University in 2022 majoring in Jazz Studies. Parker Bakkal is a sophomore at University of Tennessee in Knoxville pursuing a degree in Jazz Performance, and Riley Trauscht is a sophomore Jazz Studies major and woodwind double at Middle Tennessee State University. These artists have been playing together in different groups throughout their music careers and have a special bond that serves the music they play together. This special performance includes songs that are original compositions by the quintet members, and songs written by artists who serve as big inspirations to the development of their musicality, such as Chick Corea, Kenny Garret, Nate Smith, and more. The show is a display of some of the top jazz musicians that Nashville has to offer before they leave for college and pursue their music careers.
