When & Where
Lucy's Fried Chicken and Hops & Grain Brewery
It wasn’t until owner and chef of Lucy’s Fried Chicken James Holmes heard the cries of his Olivia
restaurant patrons, demanding its Sunday brunch’s fried chicken on a regular basis that he decided
to open the diner-style eatery in December 2011. Named for his grandmother whose secret fried
chicken recipe he utilizes for the restaurant and his youngest daughter of the same name, Lucy’s
provides guests with the ultimate comfort food, in a lively environment that keeps them
lingering. With a second location now open in North Austin, Lucy’s Fried Chicken continues please
the taste buds of Austinites, even those north of the river.
Ceator of Hops & Grain Josh Hare has turned his love for beer into a brewery that not only prides itself in its delicious taste, but also in how it is created. With a
commitment to sustainable brewing practices, Hops & Grain donates to local environmental non-
profits and supports local community growers and producers. In addition, Hops & Grain’s Brew
Biscuit dog treats are created with spent brewing grains, while the beer is packaged in the most
recyclable container available, aluminum cans. The simplicity of the name Hops & Grain draws
inspiration from Hare’s lifestyle and an easy identification to his key focus of beer. The Hops &
Grain team focuses on quality and memorability, while striving to create great brews that can be
paired with foods in the perfect manner. Hops & Grain allows brew fans to catch a glimpse of the
brewery, with the tap room open Thursday through Sunday, with 45-minute tours given on
Saturdays, which includes special samples not available in the tap room. Want to stay up-to-date on
