Event Details

Today a lot of attention from the security industry is being put on security risks, typically coming from the outside, the environment. But most of the day to day operational challenges and issues will be coming from the direct partners, or within the perimeter of the organization itself. Some of those have to do with regulatory and compliances issues, but the focus of this seminar is to investigate risk management in this case is to be also considered from the obligations to (internal) customers and expectations from (internal) suppliers. Objective is to adapt those engagements and obligations towards expectations and to manage potential inhibiting factors or mediating challenges.

Preliminary Program

13.00 h : Registration, Sandwichlunch

13.30 h : Welcome & Introduction by Reinder Wolthuis TNO & Ulrich Seldeslachts, LSEC

13.40 h : André Smulders (TNO) - How to manage risks in increasingly complex and dynamic systems

André Smulders (TNO) - How to manage risks in increasingly complex and dynamic systems
The way enterprises are cooperating is changing; we are moving from clear value chains with clear responsibilities to networked complex systems with many different and fast-changing stakeholders. The approach to risk management on the contrary, has not fundamentally changed in the past years. André Smulders will explain why the traditional approach to risk management is becoming inefficient and ineffective and a new way of thinking about risks is necessary.

14.20 h : Corné van Rooij (RSA) - How Risk Management Tooling can help to get control on an end-to-end business risk approach.

Corné van Rooij (RSA) - How Risk Management Tooling can help to get control on an end-to-end business risk approach.
With many stakeholders involved, internal and external, most modern enterprises are struggling with managing the overall business risk and being accountable for risks within their company or department (think of central IT) that can have an effect on the risks of their (internal)customers and (internal)suppliers. How a transparent way of Risk Management can be offered using tooling and what this contributes to a better control on the risk management process but also the risk posture of all parties involved.

15.00 h : Coffee Break

15.30 h : Rieks Joosten (TNO) – The transformation of risk management into success governance
Rieks Joosten (TNO) – The transformation of risk management into success governance
Rieks Joosten will zoom in on a new methodology to approach risk management for an enterprise. Not threats are leading, but obligations to e.g. customers or regulatory bodies that an enterprise has committed to combined with the expectations that an enterprise puts upon others (e.g. its suppliers). These relations have to be systematically laid out for a certain defined scope and the impact of not fulfilling the obligations has to be analysed. If these scopes are chosen well and small enough, then managing risk is easy and it will evolve into success governance.

16.10 h : Panel Discussion

16.50 h :  closing notes

17.00 h : reception & networking

18.00 h : end of seminar
