Description

The Latino Physicians of California (LPOC) and MiMentor present The Mentor Advisor Workshop

Addressing the Latino Physician Shortage

“Mentor Advisor Workshop” is the product of a unique partnership between MiMentor and the Latino Physicians of California to increase the success of UIM pre-health students who are applying to medical school . Kaiser Permanente Southern California Community Benefits has graciously funded the expansion of MiMentor’s pre-existing “Medical School Readiness Series” (MSR) for its 2019-2020 cohorts. MSR has mentored several cohorts of pre-health students over the past few years, many of whom have successfully matriculated to medical schools locally and across the nation. KP’s partnership with MiMentor and LPOC will allow the expansion of the MSR series to Orange County and Bakersfield. In addition, this partnership will allow MiMentor and LPOC to recruit additional motivated mentors and train them for success in order to ultimately increase the numbers of successfully mentored UIM medical school matriculants in 2020 and beyond. If you are new to mentoring, if you would like to enhance your mentoring skills and you believe that increasing the numbers of UIM health professionals will ultimately increase health equity for all then click on the eventbrite link below to register for this unprecedented opportunity for KP physicians. If you are from the Bakersfield or surrounding areas, we will be holding a similar workshop on September 22nd

Purpose: Train mentors to help disadvantage prehealth students successfully apply to medical school.
