LowerGear Outdoors, Arizona's premier kayak fishing store (www.lowergear.com), presents another season of tournament events in our free kayak fishing series and your chance for cash prizes at every event AND a new Outback from Hobie at season end. These outings are lots of fun and it's your chance to win big without much expense - maybe just some gas money and a few lost lures.
The dates, lake locations and estimated times for 2023 are below. All are on Saturday, and all are 6 hours out on the water. The launch location shown is always subject to change by the Tonto Forest Admins, so check www.facebook.com/lowergearkayakfishing for any changes before departing for the lake.
March 4 - Saguaro - Butcher Jones - 6:30 am
April 15 - Roosevelt - Cholla - 6:00am
May 20 - Bartlett - Jojoba Ramp - 5:30 pm (night tournament)
September 16 - Roosevelt - Windy Hill - Ramp TBD - 6:00am
October 14 - Bartlett - Jojoba Ramp - 6:30 am
We'll have a Hobie banner or EZ up near each check-in/camping spot, and launch at first safe light for morning starts.
Even though it's free entry, top anglers win cash prizes and all participating anglers (in at least 2 events) are qualified for a drawing for a free Hobie Outback at the end of the season. The more times you attend, even if you get skunked, the better your odds on winning the Outback! Important - please review all rules and guidelines at https://www.lowergear.com/kayak-fishing-tournaments before registering.
Signing up here is quick and easy, and by doing so, helps us better plan for the event. You can sign up for all 5 events here at the same time, but cutoff to register on EventBrite is the day before each event. However, you can still print out a waiver and bring it to the event. If you're under 18, we need a sign-off by your guardian who must be participating with you.
A number of us will be camping nearby, and that is always fun - check comments on any of the relevant social pages for where most will camp, but you can certainly drive out the day of as well. Just arrive 45-60 minutes ahead of launch to get unloaded, parked and ready to roll. Late check-in is sometimes possible as long as an admin is still at the table, but there's no guarantee - in other words, don't be late!
If you have any questions, see the video above and/or give us a call or stop by our store on the SW corner of University and the 101 in Tempe at 480-348-8917.
By registering here, you are agreeing to rules and waiver liability below, so please review carefully.
