Lowell's 10th Annual Winterfest Celebration
Friday, February 5, 2010 at 5:00 PM - Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 6:00 PM (EST)
The City of Lowell's 10th Annual Winterfest, kicks off on Friday, February 5th and continues through Saturday, February 6th at various indoor and outdoor locations throughout the downtown area.
To commemorate the 10th Annual Winterfest, organizers have added many new attractions at City Hall Plaza, including Friday evening’s ‘Lowla’s Dance Party’ and Saturday’s ‘Lowlapalooza’ which features an outdoor skating rink and family friendly interactive games, including a climbing wall. Both events feature “Lowla,” the ever-adorable teddy bear mascot of Lowell’s Winterfest.
“There is nothing quite like the Lowell Winterfest and this year’s 10th anniversary event is no exception,” said Bernie Lynch, Lowell City Manager. “The addition of an outdoor skating rink and family friendly attractions at City Hall Plaza provide the perfect central location for the festivities.”
The 10th Annual Winterfest also features popular events from years’ past, including the world’s first-ever National Human Dog Sled Competition, “Mittens and Museum Madness” activities for kids, the Glacier Gallery Artisans Market, the North Bowl Soup Competition, and “On the Lookout for Lowla” - a fun, family activity that encourages visitors to search for Lowla around downtown at various businesses.
The 2010 Winterfest festivities will finish with a bang at a 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evening as a fireworks display takes flight high over the Tsongas Arena.
