Event description

Description

Join The Black Swan Academy as we dive deep into our healing and mental wellness. In alignment with our "Love Us, Don't Harm Us" 2019 Black Youth Agenda we are providing the DC community with a series of FREE workshops. On Saturday, September 28th we will have Erika Totten facilitating an Emotional Emancipation Circle. The location will be updated in the coming days.

Emotional Emancipation Circles (EECs) SM are safe gatherings in which we, BLACK PEOPLE, come together to (1) share our stories and feelings; (2) deepen our understanding of the impact of our history on our emotions, relationships, and the well-being of our community; and (3) learn and practice essential emotional wellness skills.

  • Free Food

  • Free Childcare provided by the DC Child Collective.

  • We are prioritizing community members of Ward 7 & 8.

  • THIS IS A BLACK ONLY SPACE. Due to the type of healing work that will be done, we'd like to keep this space emotionally safe for our participants. Therefore, please be sure to follow this very important requirement.

  • EVERYONE MUST REGISTER. Most of our events can accommodate walk-ins, so to speak. But due to the sensitivity of this event and the topic, we ask that everyone register.
