Friday, September 21, 2018 ~ Heroes of Faith in the Scriptures and How to Be One Too!

In her first of four retreat talks, the first being Friday night, Sonja will delve into the lives of the seven people so completely daring in their faith that their heroism is recorded for all of history in the Hall of Fame of Faith. Throughout this study of Hebrews 11, you will feel as though you are following the path blazed by some Spiritual Greats who continue to beckon us to risk everything in believing God. Abraham, Moses, Joseph, David, Mary, Peter, and Paul, learn the secrets of how God strategically forms the faith of leaders and be inspired to a heroic pursuit of God yourself! Great for men, women, and anyone in positions of leadership.

Saturday, September 22, 2018 ~ LOVE the Word™ Retreat

Pope Francis called Mary the “mother of listening,” because she didn’t just hear (or read) the word, she understood how to interpret it, in light of her own relationships, circumstances, and habits. Sonja Corbitt’s Love the WordTM invites Our Blessed Mother to guide each of us in her personal “listening” practice. We learn how to LOVE the Word™ like Mary, from Mary. She teaches us a handy way of interpreting the word we hear and read through the landscape of our lives. Sonja’s three talks on Saturday will be guided in this way. Love the WordTM Journals will be available for purchase along with her Books.

Ignite.

For her first talk, using her book, Ignite as our guide, the ever ancient, ever new pages of the Bible will come alive. No matter how well you know the Bible – a little or a lot – Sonja’s book, Ignite helps you read it with new eyes. Speaking directly to our heart, Ignite presents the richness and beauty of the Scriptures in a way that connects the incredible story of God’s love to our everyday experience. Fuel your knowledge and love for God by spending time with His voice in sacred Scripture.

Fruit of the Spirit

Sonja’s second talk will be an exploration of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual fruit is not about willpower. It’s about sinking deep roots into the rich soil of God’s word. We are so blessed to have Sonja bring her latest Scripture study, Fruits of the Spirit to us. Learn how to abide in the Vine and produce abundant fruit.

Secular Carmelites & Importance of Eucharistic Adoration

Following St. Kathryn’s Investiture of Adults into the Brown Scapular in July, and in anticipation of our 50 Hours of Adoration beginning October 4th, Sonja’s third and last talk of the day will be to share in our seemingly Holy Spirit-driven, happy chain of events by talking with us about the beauty of a devotion to the Eucharist and discerning a journey in formation with a Third Religious Order, in particular, the Secular Carmelites.

About Sonja Corbitt

Sonja is a Catholic scripture teacher with a storyteller’s gift, a warrior’s heart, and a poet’s pen. She has appeared on EWTN, CatholicTV, and Catholic Radio. She has done videos for Ascension Press, has her own Podcast and writes regularly for Jeff Cavins’ The Great Adventure Bible Study Blog , in Magnificat magazine, and speaks around the world.

As an evangelical Scripture teacher, Sonja was privileged for many years to witness God speaking and moving in people’s lives through her teaching. Later, her hunger for righteousness having led her to the Catholic Church, as both the “pillar and foundation of truth” and the desire of her heart, Sonja was thrilled to discover how hungry Catholics were for the Word of God! She dove into writing multi-media Bible study resources for Catholics. Because Sonja has a fiercely loyal, grateful love for the Church, it is her heart’s cry to participate in the New Evangelism by drawing people more deeply into the church through the Scriptures. She writes and produces Bible study materials, and travels anywhere and everywhere to spread her simple message: God loves you to death; learn to let Him.

Sonja teaches regularly and lives in Tennessee. Her appearances are championed by her husband, a true Joseph, their two collaborative children, and the flexibility of their family’s homeschooling schedule. Besides her devotion to the Eucharist and the Sacred Writings and their Author, Sonja is in formation with the Third Order Carmelites. She delights in a pot of apricot tea, her rocking chair and quilt on the porch of her farmhouse, the English countryside, Austen, Dickens and Michael Crighton novels, and long hikes along the Appalachian Trail.
