Event description

Description

Please join us for a training on understanding and working with LGBTQ survivors of intimate partner violence. We will spend the first half of the presentation reviewing common terminology used in LGBTQ communities and unpacking commonly misunderstood concepts related to sex, gender, and sexual orientation. The second half will address issues specific to working with LGBTQ survivors including unique challenges in assessment and possible interventions. The training will employ multiple learning methods including presentation, videos, infographics, vignettes, and small group practice/discussion.

NC Center for Resiliency is sponsoring Durham County Rape Crisis Center faciliator: Sarah Murray, LCSW (she, her, hers). Sarah is the LGBTQ Outreach and Services Specialist at Durham Crisis Response Center. She works across the triangle to increase the capacity of agencies to serve LGBTQ survivors of intimate partner violence. Sarah's clinical interests include complex trauma, disenfranchised grief, and intercultural enactments in therapeutic dyads. Sarah resides in Durham with her partner and two beautiful, hairy dogs.

Workshop is intended for HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS ONLY at this time.
