Event description

Description

The Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center will hold a Housing Forum to share information with businesses interested in helping meet housing needs for survivors of the August severe storms and flooding in the state. Businesses are encouraged to provide information about how they may be able to participate in solutions for those in need of housing.

Target Audience:

Housing/Lodging Providers, Construction Industry, Realtors®, Developers, Landlords, Property Owners, Homebuilding Associations, Architects

Registration required - limited seating

Participants will have the opportunity to talk with representatives of the State of Louisiana, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Small Business Administration to obtain information about housing efforts and how businesses may participate.

Many of the 145,000 households that registered with FEMA for disaster assistance have unmet transitional housing needs as a result of flooding. FEMA is providing assistance through several programs, including rental assistance, Transitional Sheltering Assistance (hotel rooms), and as a last resort manufactured housing units. FEMA also is working with multifamily housing owners to provide housing for survivors. The State of Louisiana, with FEMA support, is providing Shelter at Home grants to disaster survivors.

The forum will give the business community an opportunity to consider options for helping Louisiana disaster survivors recover from the flooding.
