A close-up look at one of the Salmagundi Club’s most famous members…
Louis Comfort Tiffany

In addition to his masterful stained glass art business, Louis Comfort Tiffany was a proud member of the Salmagundi Club. Learn how he established his place in New York’s Gilded Age society, built a dazzling career and created iconic masterpieces that are still enjoyed today.

Tiffany hailed from a distinguished family, including his father, Charles, best known for his famous New York City jewelry empire. Louis Comfort had great homes in New York City and Long Island, including Laurelton Hall (which has remnants on permanent display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art). His stained-glass windows can still be seen in countless churches throughout New York and beyond. His design of the historic Veterans Room at the Park Avenue Armory, which involved both Tiffany and fellow Salmagundian Stanford White is legendary.

This lecture features information about Tiffany’s life and art, as well as the latest museum exhibitions about town honoring his contributions. Also gain new insights that have been recently uncovered about Tiffany lamp designs and the men and women behind the scenes who are now just getting credit for their works!
