Description

Join the Lost Pines Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists, Precision Camera & Video and Sony for a two day photo contest and nature festival on Saturday, Nov. 4 and Sunday Nov. 5 at McKinney Roughs Nature Park. The event will include basic photography classes by Sony, guided hikes all centered around a two-day photography contest.

Normal park entry fees will be charged at the gate.
Adults: $5
Age 65+ and Disabled: $2
Children under age 12: Free

Lunch: Boxed lunches will be available from Subway at $7 per meal on a first come, first served basis.

Schedule of Events

Saturday, Nov 4th
8 a.m. Park Opens
9:30 to 10:30 a.m. General orientation briefing
10:30 a.m. to Noon Recurring classes/equipment demos and Guided Hikes
Noon to 1 p.m. Boxed Lunches available from Subway for $7 on first come, first served basis.
1 to 6:30 p.m. Open Shooting for Photography competition

Sunday, Nov 5th
8 a.m. Park gates open
8 to 9:30 a.m. Park cars, sign-in at headquarters, visit vendor booths
9:30 a.m. to Noon Open Shooting for Photography competition
Noon to 1 p.m. Boxed Lunches available from Subway for $7 on first come, first served basis.
1 to 6:30 p.m. Open Shooting for Photography competition

Orientation
A general orientation to the event will be given at 9:30 a.m. in the park classrooms. All registered participants should plan on attending. Event organizers will review the day’s schedule, the park’s layout, services and safety issues, and answer questions. Precision Camera will discuss available photography classes, equipment demos/lending and answer questions.

Event booths
General Information Booth: directions, water, park maps, guided hikes, emergencies, first aid
Precision Camera Booth: vendor booth coordinating basic photography classes, rules & judging
Sony Booth: vendor booth coordinating equipment demonstrations and equipment loans

Guided Hikes
Master Naturalists will offer guided hikes to interested participants in two general categories:
General orientation to specific trails: Gives an overview of particular parts of the park
Guided tours to areas of interest: Takes partipants to areas of the park known to harbor interesting flora and fauna.

Hikes will be offered early in the schedule of events on Saturday for those registrants seeking orientation or guides to specialized areas of the park. Hikes will be offered only on a limited basis on Sunday.

Photo Contest

We will run a photo contest with prizes for winning images. We will select one (1) winner from the following catagories
• People & Nature: Illustrates above and beyond the hope that people and nature can thrive together
• Landscape: Highlights the beauty and light of the nature park and this region of Texas.
• Wildlife: Best wildlife moment.
• Shapes/Patterns/Textures in Nature: Highlights the abstract beauty of the Texas outdoors
• Young Photographer: We will select one (1) additional winner from the above categories that is submitted by a photographer under the age of 16

Prizes
Overall winner: Will recieve a 24x36 Canvas Gallery wrapped print of your image — a $159.99 value and a $50 gift card to Precision Camera.

Winners of the five categories: Will recieve a 20x24 Canvas Gallery wrapped print of your image — a $99.99 value.

Every entry: Will recieve a voucher for a Free 8x12 image of your entry.

Rules
• All Submissions must be digital, but film scans are welcome
• All photos must have been physically taken at the two-day event, Nov. 4 or Nov. 5
• Digital images must be sent into Precision Camera by midnight on Sunday, Nov. 12
• Each Participant can submit up to three (3) images
• Max File Size is 5 MB
• Email images to cholder@precision-camera.com
• Images will be judged by Precision Camera
• Winners will be announced on Nov. 20

All submission must include: Date taken, name of photographer, catagory submitted to and age of photographer (If under 16).
