"Los Empeños de una Casa" ENG - Closing 3/12

The epitome of a baroque comedy, Los empeños de una casa / Misfortunes of a House provokes hearty laughs, as the playwright, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, continually surprises the audience with coincidental traps set for five young lovers in a convoluted plot that entangles their amorous desires, within the confines of a house. One night a couple tries to elope only to be sequestered in the house by two siblings who aim to separate them; another suitor enters the house aided by the maid who complicates the plot along with the male servant who will try to exit, disguised as a woman. The approach of a self-seeking father will spark even more confusion. How will all the scheming and confusion be solved? Sor Juana knows and the audience will find out!
