Scott Kelly, Black Dog Venture Partners

Scott Kelly Founder and CEO of Black Dog Venture Partners, is a 25 year fundraising, marketing, sales, training and publicity veteran. Scott has raised millions of dollars in capital for disruptive companies, garnered national media coverage for hundreds of regional and national brands and generated millions of dollars in revenues for the companies he has represented. He has also trained over 1,000 sales people and has taught marketing at the university level in the United States and Europe.

Hershel Mehta, CPA - Private Investor, Mehta Ventures, Los Angeles, CA

Hershel Mehta is a Venture Capitalist in charge of U.S. investments through his Family Office's proprietary fund called Mehta Ventures. He has gone through the entrepreneurship journey himself, having published a mobile application in the Apple App Store in 2015, and Hershel uses that experience to help guide entrepreneurs through their own journeys. He finished his Venture Investing Education through the Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of Business. Likewise, he is a CPA certified by the CA State Board of Accountancy. Hershel has invested in 14 deals this last quarter, 11 of which were through the Y-Combinator W19 batch.

Janice Orlando - Private Investor - Board of Directors, Pasadena Angels

The Pasadena Angels were founded in 2000 and are one of the longest-running angel investing groups in Southern California. We have invested over $75 million in 190 plus companies. Pasadena Angels funded companies have gone on to raise over $500 million from additional funding sources such as venture capital and private equity. Recent notable exits for the Pasadena Angels are Mind Body Software (NASDAQ:MB) reaching $1 billion and Bluebeam Software, acquired by Nemetschek for $100 million.

The Pasadena Angels have been consistently ranked as one of the top ten angel investing groups in the country according to Forbes Magazine (2015) and Angel Resource Institute's HALO report (2017). A nonprofit entity, the Pasadena Angels offers early-stage start-ups capital investments; as well as mentoring from the expertise of more than 100 investor members with over 4,000 years of combined business expertise. Our $1.5 million PA Fund 1 was formed in 2016 with the sole purpose of co-investing exclusively in deals subscribed by Pasadena Angels members.

Ajay Prasad - CEO GMR Web Team

Ajay Prasad is a serial entrepreneur and a recovering corporate executive. His entrepreneur journey started in 2005 after spending 17 years as a senior executive (marketing/strategy/CEO) of large, mid-size, and a VC-funded startup.

Based in Orange County, CA, he owns five companies in different stages of development with offices in Tustin, CA, Ellensburg, WA, and two Indian offices in Hyderabad and Patna. His companies employ over 100 people.

Ajay is an active member of TiE SoCal Angel Investment Group and has invested in five businesses, all based in the US, as an angel investor. He prefers to invest in companies that are fulfilling an unmet need, and where he can bring some additional value through his experience and his current infrastructure.

Jeffery Lin - Oak Sky Capital

Managing his own AUM as well as his family's, Jeffrey Lin has been investing for the past decade. Focusing on real estate/infrastructure and seed stage to publicly-listed companies, he invests with a cross border angle (Asia Expansion). Jeffrey Lin started college at the age of 14 and received his JD from the University of Iowa.

Doug Lorenzen - Partner, MVP FUNDS

Lorenzen brings a unique mix of capabilities as an entrepreneur and VC, guiding the initial growth stages of several successful startups over the past 15 years. Prior to joining Moore Venture Partners in 2018, he was the first investor, CFO, and co-founder of OpenEnglish.com which has become the world’s #1 online ESL school with over 1,000 employees and operations in most of Latin America. Since 2007, Open English has raised over $120 million dollars. Additionally, since 2012, Lorenzen successfully launched Daily Hope Radio, which is the daily inspirational radio program from Pastor Rick Warren, as well as The Daniel Plan, which in partnership with Dr. Oz promotes health and wellness throughout the global church. Lorenzen also has raised Seed and Series A rounds for companies including Talespin VR/AR, Tapin2, Bloom, Raven, and several others. He also was invited to be the Vice President of the Los Angeles VR/AR Association and was the recipient of the CFO of the Year award in 2018 from the LA Business Journal.

Dan Farrell - CEO of Privos Capital

Mr. Farrell is the Chairman & CEO of Privos Capital, a global Multi-Family Office LP (MFO). Privos partners with single family offices, multi-family offices, sovereign and royal families, their funds, foundations, and portfolio companies, in leading financial centers, as well as in the BRICS, N-11, and Frontier Countries of the Emerging Markets. The firm’s main business is working exclusively with its family office LP partners on global expansionist activities, capital allocations, strategic alliances, joint ventures, secondaries, directs, co-investments, and philanthropy.

In addition to serving as the CEO of a multi-family office, Mr. Farrell serves as a senior strategic advisor to one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, a private equity fund, and a London and Silicon Valley technology accelerator that was involved in the launch of Uber, Spotify, Zappos and other unicorns. Prior to joining Privos, Mr. Farrell was an equity partner in an international law firm. He is a frequent speaker world-wide at private equity, family office, sustainable investing, and alternative investing conferences. He has been featured in Bloomberg and the financial press. Mr. Farrell has four sons, two of whom attended Phillips Exeter Academy where Mr. Farrell served as a student advisor and mentor for many years.

Scott Matthews - Sutter Capital

Scott is a former Financial Analyst specializing in operations and strategy. Scott came to Sutter Capital from Internet Brands where he helped drive operational strategies to increase its legal lead business. Prior to his experience in the tech industry Scott worked as a Business Analyst for AvalonBay Communities, Inc. where he focused on portfolio performance and strategy for Southern California and the Pacific Northwest. Scott graduated from James Madison University in 2014 with a degree in Finance and a concentration in Financial Analysis.

Travis Steffen - Venture Partner for 7BC

Travis Steffen is a serial technology founder with 7 exits to date. He is the author of Viral Hero, which teaches founders how to build companies that grow themselves. He currently serves as the CEO of GrowFlow Corp, a venture-backed market leader in software solutions for the cannabis industry in several states.

Travis also serves as a venture partner for 7BC, a Silicon Valley-based fund focused on AI, ML, blockchain and fintech. He also serves as an advisor to LvlUp Ventures, an industry agnostic LA-based early stage VC fund.

Wan Song - Investor

Wan has been investing in companies for over 20 years, covering numerous industries and verticals that are relevant to the present and future trends. An entrepreneur by heart, he grew his last firm into recurring revenue exceeding $30MM. Since retiring in late 2013, Wan spends his time meeting and mentoring startup founders, venture partners, and institutions to help grow Los Angeles as a true venture and entrepreneurial destination. He is an active member of LAVA, Singularity University, and Abundance360. He received his MBA from Pepperdine's Graziadio Business School in 2012.

Arabian Prince - Founder / Chief Innovator, Inov8next
​​A songwriter, rapper, producer, DJ and technologist, Arabian is best known for pioneering west coast electro music and being a founding member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted rap group N.W.A. His passion for technology led to him create a 3D animation and special effects studio in the 90’s working with companies like Saban Entertainment and Fox; including 100+ video game titles for Fox Interactive and Vivendi Universal. As a consultant, Arabian has advised many companies on bridging the gap between technology and the youth, while bringing new product innovations to market.

Vishal Arora Technology Executive, Startup Investor, Incubator, and Advisor

Vishal is a technologist at heart. He enjoys building disruptive, innovative technology products and services that have worldwide impact, as well as investing in, incubating, and advising startups that do the same. He has Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Science and an Executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Vishal has served multiple products and professional services organizations like Microsoft, Symantec, Accenture, and Avanade in different leadership capacity, where his roles included enterprise product and services strategy, design and delivery, product and portfolio management, global technology and P&L management. He is a founder of both Netvega Solutions, an IT services firm focused on providing services and solutions for small to mid-market companies, and VDOSH, an investment and advisory firm focused on growing technology startups in the early stages of their development.

Vishal is passionate about startup mentorship and incubation and supports startups throughout the United States and India. He is a mentor with multiple incubation and acceleration centers including Alchemist

JJ Richa - Angel Investor

JJ Richa is an accomplished serial entrepreneur, executive and investor. JJ has successfully founded several companies, where he served as President and CEO, including a software company for the hospitality industry, an online eCommerce portal for high-end made-to-order gifts, and a custom software development company concentrating on the financial sector. JJ is a private equity investor, a longtime member of Tech Coast Angels where he served as its vice president and a member of its executive committee. JJ has served on numerous board of directors, started a private equity firm and served in senior executive restructuring and turnaround roles including interim CEO and fractional COO for businesses at various stages. JJ has BS and MS degrees from Cal State Long Beach.

Alessandro Marianantoni - Exec. Director and Founder at M Accelerator

Alessandro Marianantoni is Exec. Director and Founder at M Accelerator in Los Angeles, offering programs to serve the Los Angeles Startup ecosystem providing students, early-stage and later-stage founders with skills to grow their startups.

He has designed and developed projects in different spaces: entertainment, engineering, architecture, and healthcare, receiving public and private funding from a number of organizations including UCLA, Google, Siemens, Marriott, Universal Studios, Disney, Amazon, Italian Government and the City of Pasadena.
Alessandro earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of L’Aquila, with a thesis on perceptual interfaces at the USC Integrated Media System Center.

Over the years he has run numerous international programs including summer boot camps and international research initiatives at UCLA and he is now directing M Accelerator and MEDIARS LLC.

Asher Leids - Venture Mentor at LDR Ventures

Asher is a Corporate Attorney specializing in venture capital, securities & merger & acquisition transactions. He is also an angel investor with a focus on consumer lifestyle brands, eCommerce, healthcare and technology companies that have a socially responsible aspect in their mission. He has made over 20 investments in startup companies which include the following: Thrive Market, events.com, mogl.con, Connected Signals, Jaanuu, Arsenic, Vow to be Chic, Trufl and Snobar Cocktails. Asher was involved in one of the first e-commerce IPOs, taking Shopping.com public in 1997, and represented a startup that was formed by a number of UCLA computer science majors that received funding from Ron Burkle, the founder of The Yucaipa Companies, and Mike Ovitz, one of the founders of Creative Artists Agency. While that company, Scour.net, eventually didn’t succeed, one of the founders, Travis Kalanick, has gone on to lead Uber Technologies, Inc.

I work with startup businesses/founders and early-stage company CEO's/management teams to help them set clear growth oriented goals and to get the best possible outcomes. I serve on several advisory boards and speak regularly about the role of technology and innovation in the 50+ space.

Specialties: My career has included senior roles in marketing, business development, operations, logistics, finance, investment, Human resources and engineering/technology (and having been a founder-CEO of a startup 3 times in the past)
