Description

If you don’t know who Loretta Lynn is, you ain’t from ‘round these parts...Loretta Lynn is an American country music singer-songwriter with multiple gold albums in a career spanning almost 60 years. She is famous for hits such as "You Ain't Woman Enough", "Don't Come Home A' Drinkin'", "One's on the Way", "Fist City", and "Coal Miner's Daughter" along with the 1980 biographical film also titled Coal Miner’s Daughter.

Along the Tennessee River in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee is a beautiful spot, the Loretta Lynn Ranch. Loretta saw the property when she and husband Doolittle Lynn were out “courting”. It was love at first site and the Lynn’s purchased the entire town of Hurricane Mills including a grist mill and post office! The tours we will take on this trip are a walk through her life.

First, we will enjoy a country style buffet lunch at the famous Loretta Lynn’s Kitchen around 11am. You are sure to leave stuffed!

We will enjoy a guided tour and history of the following places at the ranch:

  • Plantation Mansion - Loretta Lynn's home as seen in the Coal Miners Daughter movie. The Travel Channel aired a special on the Haunted Plantation in October of 2003. The woman in white is Beula Anderson who, after the death of her newborn son, died twelve days later from grief. Sightings of her crying and wringing her hands have been witnessed at the Plantation Home and Anderson Cemetery. After moving to Hurricane Mills in 1966, the Lynn Family heard stories of the Plantation Home being haunted. The Lynn’s, visitors and employees have experienced strange occurrences throughout the years. A woman dressed in white and two Civil War Soldiers have been seen on many occasions. Strange sounds and happenings are commonplace in the home.
  • Replica of Loretta’s Childhood Butcher Holler Home - Her real childhood home is in Butcher Hollow, part of Johnson County Kentucky. The replica of her Butcher Holler home, which we will tour, was used for the filming of the Coal Miner’s Daughter movie.
  • Replica Coal Mine - Experience what it felt like to work in a coal mine as we step back in time and walk through the a replica. This coal mine is such a treat and a lot more interesting than people think it will be!

After the guided tours, you will get to explore the ranch on your own to take pictures, shop and visit the Frontier Homestead, Grist Mill Museum, Native American Artifact Museum, and Loretta’s Fan & Doll Museum at no additional charge!

Loretta’s Fan & Doll Museum hosts a vast array of Dolls and Gifts sent to Loretta from her Loving and Devoted Fans. This Museum is a tribute to her loyal fans that may be viewed by the general public.

Loretta’s Grist Mill Museum hosts a variety of equipment used during the production of corn meal in the late 1800’s. In addition, the original generator and control panel used to supply electricity to the Mill and Plantation Home are on display. Early pictures of the Plantation Home, the original Post Office, re-created General Store and Moonshine Still are also highlighted in the Mill. Uncle Rufus (animated character) welcomes everyone to the Grist Mill Museum.

The Plantation Shop hosts a variety of rustic decor, replica firearms, Native American crafted relics, along with vast array Loretta Lynn Tee’s as well as autographed guitars. You can visit Loretta’s Lynn’s Native American Artifact Museum located in the Plantation Shop. The Museum hosts over 5000 authentic artifacts and relics as well as some of Loretta’s own personal collection.

Loretta’s Western Store offers a large variety of Western Wear, Decor and Western Jewelry. Personalized Tee’s and a variety of other souvenirs are available as well.

Loretta’s Snack Shop - Milkshakes, Ice Cream, Soft Drinks, Cappuccino, Coffee, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and Snacks are available in Western Town.
