Looking Back to Move Forward: The Continuous Evolution of Dance

How is the vocabulary of traditional dance being used, pushed or even rejected by today’s choreographers? Join BRAI and Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) as we ask some of the area’s influential dance-makers “how does historical movement inspire and influence your work today?” Katerina Novikova (Bolshoi Theatre), David Parker (Bang Group), Peter DiMuro (Dance Complex) and Rebecca Rice (Rebecca Rice Dance) will discuss the blending of tradition and innovation in contemporary movement. Panel moderated by Dawn M. Simmons (BCA). Introductory remarks by Professor Yuri Corrigan (BU).
Followed by a screening of the Bolshoi Ballet's production of The Bolt. Screening Introduced by Katerina Novikova (Bolshoi Theatre Press Secretary) and Anna Winestein (BRAI).
