About LOOK 2017 - Aug 17 - 20

This event shall be marking the 20th year the very First Look took place in this same venue - FCE, Osiele, Abeokuta, Nigeria. It is our believe this edition of the Annual Mission Conference shall be the beginning of another revival in Christian missions; as the Lord God confronts His children with the question: "who shall go for us" (Isaiah 6.8).

The downward trend of the mission workforce (in going, giving, praying, mobilising, and sending) is alarming. This cause from observation is partly due to the incidence of the extravagant apathy surrounding Christian Missions, which is replacing our once faithful commitment to the course.

It is most appalling that even the seemingly 'mission-minded' Christians of the 21st century are just a similitude of the Priest and Levite of the popular Good Samaritan story in Luke 19.29-34. We now have so much hypocrisy of much talk, less positive actions amongst us. This trending has made much more Unreached People Groups yet unreached; the facilitation of the discouragement of faithful workers on the field and the over-labouring of the currently serving missionaries.

Come August the 17th through to the 20th, 2017; we trust God to address these issues with the dynamic features put in place to make this Look impactful.

Thursday the 17th, JE-HOSH-A-PHAT (our musical concert on Missions) shall fill the air as choirs from joint Christian fellowships in Ogun State, Nigeria and JE-HOSH-A-PHAT teams from Nigerian FSM chapters join their voices to do music. This edition is designed to honour two Ogun State based distinguished God's servants who have been consistently Missions' oriented musicians for over two decades: Rev'd Mike David and St. Kunle Agboola. It promises to be exciting. Friday the 18th is expected to be a busy day. The features include: a participatory Bible Study on the Conference theme; Syndicate workshops on 1) Cyber security and Wealth Creation, 2) Wastes to Wealth, 3) Business opportunities for Christians in Music & Entertainment and 4) Organic farming enterprise; an afternoon plenary talk on 'Your Health, your Wealth' and later in the evening the guest speaker (Rev'd Agboaye) lits up the atmosphere, greater than as God used him during the very first LOOK (1997). You can't afford to miss these life changing sessions.

Saturday the 19th: Rev'd Agboaye shall continue in the trail of blessings after which the Reunion/Communion Service takes the air till the Lunch time. Technical sessions shall come up next on: Master Trainers of our On-campus Mission School (OMS), Operationalisation of Student Mission Support Scheme (SMSS) and the Professional Clinics of FSM. As it is our custom, the Annual Leadership Congress shall be held after dinner and highly participatory.

Sunday the 20th, this whole event shall be rounded off with mobilisation for SMSS at the various tertiary schools in Abeokuta from morning till noon.

As a side attraction this year and for the very first time, there shall be Children Sessions (ages 3 - 12) during LOOK. This special sessions shall include: Bible study, Quiz/ Mediations, Film show, Career talks and Intercession for missionary children.

*Please pray along that God shall use this event to open the eyes of the participants to the remaining task of global and national missions as well as reveal His yearning for those who will "GO" (in literal 'going' as missionaries, giving, praying, mobilising and sending).

Foundation For Student Mission

The Foundation for Student Mission (FSM) is a non-denominational movement of mission minded Christian professionals (from all walks of life), mobilizing and equipping (discipleship) Christian students for Christian missions. The mandate God gave Foundation for Student Mission is to raise work force for mission agencies and mission oriented churches. The official inauguration ceremony took place on the 20th May, 1995. It is expected that as the students are exposed and acquainted with various mission works, it will be easier for them to be involved in Christian missions at higher levels of commitment after graduation. The movement also encourages academic excellence among the students. Members sharpen each other and impact into the students in three broad ways: i) exemplary Christian life ii) Professionalism iii) dynamism in Christian missions.

The movement comprises of both student and non-student arms. The student arm is known as Student Mission Club (SMC) while the non-student arm is called The Wise League – TWL. The Wise League (TWL) members are exemplary Christians in the society expanding the frontier of the Kingdom of God (missions) through their individual qualitative professionalisms and reproducing such characters in Christian students through systematic discipleship and mentoring activities. SMC is now spreading to many institutions of higher learning and it is considered as a passing phase for student-members (revealing its nature as a movement).
