Description

Shelter Me is an award-winning PBS series that celebrates the human-animal bond with inspiring stories about homeless pets and the people who help them.

"Shelter Me: The Art of Kindness," Episode 9, features:

- An amazing story about a painting dog named DogVinci. When his beret is put on, he knows it's time to paint. The owner and the dog travel to schools and libraries to teach kids about creativity and abstract painting. This story culminates with a solo gallery show for the artistic pup that raised money and awareness for the Babylon Animal Shelter on Long Island.

- We feature an incredible and heartwarming senior dog adoption event that showcases these often overlooked shelter pets. Susie's Senior Dogs partnered with more than 10 shelters to help find loving homes for these pets.

- We also show an innovative cat adoption event. The Long Beach, CA animal shelter partnered with their Mayor and turned City Hall into Kitty Hall for the day. This fun event will be duplicated across the country. More cats were adopted in one day than in a typical month!

- Pop artist MAX gave free concerts at animal shelters in New York (ACC of NYC), Chicago (CACC) and LA (Downey Animal Care Center). His hit song, "Lights Down Low," was on the Billboard Top 10. Hundreds of young people that have never been to a shelter were introduced to the homeless animal problem. This first of its kind concert series shows that we can hold uplifting events at shelters to bring in more adopters.

Shelter Me is produced by Steven Latham Productions and presented by the Petco Foundation.
