This 3-part series will take participants through the entire process of preparing for a long-distance backpacking trip. Classes will cover planning, equipment, logistics, making your own DIY camp stove, and the series will finish with a backpacking day trip (10 miles round trip) in the Waterloo Recreation Area.
Part 2: DIY Camp Stove
Using a few common waste materials and tools, you can create your very own ultra-lightweight camp stove. The workshop will go over the many different options of camp stoves and will finish with each participant creating his or her own camp stove to take home and use on future backpacking trips.
Tuition: $20 per person. Children 12 and older are half price with accompanying adult.
