Description

Loneliness, a growing health epidemic: Assessing, Understanding, and Treatment.

Please join Melissa Kincheloe, LCMFT, LMFT, CDWF and Justin Bastin, LCMFT, LMAC, LMFT for a new (M0-PR and KS-BSRB approved) 6-hour CEU training that introduces clinicians to an emerging epidemic in our society: Loneliness.

In this digital age, with social media accessible 24/7, the reported rate of loneliness is skyrocketing. Roughly 25% of people are struggling with chronic loneliness and this epidemic is killing us. Loneliness is increasing our risk for heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, suicide, dementia and Alzheimer’s. Loneliness shows up in many ways: social anxiety, depression, sadness, lack of energy or motivation and we continue to see and hear the depths of despair that our patients experience. For a quick look at the effects of loneliness, you can go to: https://time.com/5261181/young-americans-are-lonely/

This CEU is meant to offer resources that can be helpful in assessing, understanding, and treating loneliness. We will explore the research, assessment tools, our natural biases, and how shame, addiction, and trauma perpetuate the narrative we create around loneliness. We will end with an in-depth look at treatment interventions and activities to combat loneliness, which can be utilized immediately.

This event has been approved for CEU by the BSRB and Missouri Regulatory Board.
