Welcome to the 2nd event of the New Research Speakers Club hosted by Betty Adamou, CEO & Founder of Research Through Gaming.
This event is ONLY for people who have never, ever spoken in front of an audience before. If you have spoken at a conference before, please join our Facebook group where you can be a mentor and offer advice to new speakers. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ResearchSpeakersClub/
If you want to practice your first talk ever, or if you simply want to gain experience speaking to an audience of researchers/techies/data scientists, this is the place for you. You will never be put on the spot in front of the group to talk or speak or comment or contribute verbally.
Want to be a speaker during the club session? Then please come prepared with a talk up to ten minutes in length. Speaking slots are assigned on a first come, first serve.
Just want to come and listen during the club? No problem. Each listener will be offered to the opportunity to speak for up to 2 minutes on a preassigned research topic to be shared with you ahead of time when you're ready.
For this second event, I am asking the delegates who would like to (this is totally voluntary) to record (on your phones, or other voice recording device) a simple 1-2 min talk at the maximum about what you think the future of MR will be like in 5 years.
This is a nice broad subject that everyone has thoughts on, and this will get you used to the 'pre-recorded webinar' style environment.
This activity be helpful to help you learn more about:
- Keeping to time,
- Practising speeches
- Getting used to the pre-recorded 'webinar' environment
- Memorising key points/phrases when under the pressure of recording
- Speaking clearly (particularly when nervous!)
If you'd like to participate in this activity, please send me your 1-2 minute recording by Tuesday 18th October 2016.
Look forward to seeing you!
