Description

Join us on a tour of the beautiful London ‘village’ of Highgate – an area that sits high on a hill overlooking the city and is full of history, spectacular views, great stories and brilliant pubs. You can’t ask for much more than that!

Our guided walk lasts for approximately 90 minutes and along the way we’ll find out where Hitler’s brother (briefly) lived with his wife and son William Hitler. We’ll find out where poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge used to buy his drugs, we’ll see where Francis Bacon made an ill-fated attempt to freeze a chicken, where Poet Laureate John Betjeman grew up and visit ex-home of singer George Michael.

We’ll also see where Charles Dickens lived, discover where Karl Marx is buried and check out Dick Turpin’s boozer. This is a London walk that has everything…

Warning: Highgate is lovely and hilly so please wear comfortable footwear.

Next tour: Sunday 28th April 2019 at 1pm. Please email julianwoodfield@mac.com to let me know you are coming.

The walk starts outside Highgate tube station (meet outside the Priory Gardens exit of the station).

Cost: £8 per person.
